Keynote Address: U.S. Attorney Nicholas W. Brown

U.S. Attorney Nicholas W. Brown was nominated by President Joe Biden and took the oath of office on October 8, 2021. A Western Washington native, U.S. Attorney Brown has made history as the first Black U.S. Attorney in Western Washington.
Brown graduated Magna Cum Laude from Morehouse College in 1999 and completed his J.D. at Harvard Law School in 2002. Subsequently, he served from 2003 to 2007 as a Judge Advocate General at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Fort Bliss, and Baghdad, Iraq. For his efforts, Brown was awarded a Bronze Star Medal in 2005.
With deep roots in federal and state government, Mr. Brown served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in Western Washington from 2007 to 2013, and he served as General Counsel to Governor Jay Inslee from 2013 to 2017. Most recently, he was a partner at Pacifica Law Group.
Mr. Brown has an extensive history volunteering at a number of public service and nonprofit organizations, including the Campaign for Equal Justice, Seattle Ethics and Elections, the Washington State Bar Association Leadership Institute, Seattle Works, and Treehouse.
